Alphabet Soup...and Talking Turkey

It was bound to happen, everyone. Uppercase Living was eventually going to find its way into my blog. You know I love it; I know I love it. But I want to share with you the coolness that is my house thanks TO it!

=)

Well, for those of you who have been keeping up with the home remodel, the downstairs is pretty much a different space altogether. At the base of the steps is this...wall. I tried to put furniture there, leave it plain, had a curios, even art. NOTHING looked right. A few weeks ago I put this up. It took me 20 MINUTES once I figured out where I wanted it. And if you look at the size of the light switch, you can gauge its size. How cool is that??
I also added 'Yes, you are the Fairest of them all' to the mirror in the girls' bathroom. They get a kick out of it =) I know it's not for everyone, but I really love how it makes my house look so personal and custom, and it's affordable! (If you want more info, look here).

I also added the logo to my back window of my car (these words are vinyl so they hold up to weather), so if you need one for your write off, show me the love!

Sales Pitch: The End.

On to today's 'soup du jour': Thanksgiving.

Almost every year for over a decade, I have done Thanksgiving with the Bostonian contingent. I have always looked forward to it; Mikey also LOVED this tradition. It is hard to imagine going without him AND Baba. I feel like the 'Pocono contingent' is seriously lacking without these two elements. I am so glad we went last year. I treasure every memory.

Cousin Kathy moved out of her house. I am not sure of Alicia's plans. Katie will be in Africa. I think it's time for change. I think, this year, I am going to bite the bullet and try Texas for Thanksgiving. Of course, that measn I need to see if Kathryn would like to join us (what are holidays without her anymore?) and face the fact that I won't have much input into what is served or the traditions involved, but I guess it is time for new traditions, new things, new times.

The problem is that holidays are a time for old things--old friends, family, old traditions (some of which you don't even completely understand because the stories are forgotten!). BUT I am excited about spending time with Jay's family and learning their traditions, becoming a part of their family experience. I think it will be great for all of us.
So wish us luck as we move into a new phase...

JK and I are also trying to figure out exactly what to do this Thanksgiving - Darcy is going to be on this coast around Thanksgiving, but that is as far as we go for plans - manage to see Darcy.

New traditions can be a lot of fun and wonderful experiences. Texas sounds good. :)

:D Well sweetness... you Do realize that since you will be in Texas... you are not that far from Colorado.

You can "swing in" for dessert, and we would LOVE to see you.

Meg.... we are THRILLED to have you come and spend Thanksgiving. I want to combine your traditions with ours. We will be drinking all day long and laughing and cooking and you can watch Justin get his crazy "cooking" eye while he cooks the turkey. Oh yes-- one year we did have a turkey that was not cooked all the way through. Be prepared for LOTS of laughter!!! Love you!
